Georg Nees Study
George Nees was a pioneer of computer-based generative art, first exibiting his work in 1965. A mathematician by training, he used computer technology available at the time, including the ALGOL programming language and computer-generated punch tape, to experiment with concepts of order, randomness, and disorder.[1]
As part of my ongoing interest in grid-based motifs, I was drawn immediately upon discovery to one of Nees's lithographic prints found widely on the web. I had an intuitive perception of how a very similar image might be generated and set about formulating some algorithims in code. In my investigation along the way I came upon some interesting variations derived from the process of rotation.
